Joining the ClubJoining is easy! Attend the first meeting, held at the beginning of each semester, and pay the dues which are $20 for club members, $50 for western team members, and $400 for hunter and dressage team members per semester. Dues must be paid to the Sports Club Office located in Mccomas Hall by the 2nd meeting of the semester in order to be considered an active member of the club. Attendance at club meetings is necessary for active status in the club. Only two meetings a semester may be missed, with excuses turned in to the secretary.

HoursMembers get hours for attending or otherwise contributing to activities planned by the executive committee. If the correct amount of hours are not earned, the member will be suspended from the club and removed from the riding team if applicable. There will be plenty of opportunities throughout the semester to obtain hours through social or service events such as VT's Big Event, volunteering at one of our team's home shows, or helping out at a barn clean. Fundraising points can be earned by many revenue generating tasks, such as donating $15 worth of concession items or selling clothing at shows. The requirements are listed below:

Riding Classes on CampusRiding classes are available on campus for students who wish to either learn to ride or continue riding in college. There are lessons available for everyone regardless of experience. Students on the Hunter or Dressage team are required to take lessons through the University.
A message from Beth: Hello guys, Here is the "down low" on how to request a riding class if you've never done this before. During course request, anyone who requests a riding class - doesn't matter which class - will have their name added to a list of students interested in riding. The registrar will forward this information to the Department of APSC. We will set up riding evaluations for any new students. After hunter and dressage team tryouts each semester, equitation classes will be manually scheduled by skill level. Keep in mind that there is a semester fee of $1240 that will be added to your student account when you are added to an equitation class. Here are the steps you will need to take to GET a riding class: 1) Request a riding class while course request is open 2) Any new riders - be on the lookout for an email to schedule a riding skill evaluation 3) After hunter and dressage team tryouts each semester, everyone who requested a class will be contacted to provide their availability for riding that semester 4) The number of students riding each semester will vary depending on horse numbers, rider schedules and rider skill level. HOPE THIS INFORMATION HELPS. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO FORWARD THIS INFO TO ANYONE YOU KNOW OF WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN A RIDING CLASS! LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS! Thanks! ~Beth If you have any other questions regarding lessons, feel free to email Beth at [email protected] |
